Client Spotlight:
Iris Networks

July 10th, 2008

Iris Networks is a uniquely positioned company delivering state-of-the-art, high-speed transport for voice, video and data to many underserved rural areas of the country.

"When the time came to update our company website, I shopped around various places and luckily found Jack Behar, who came highly recommended to me by a co-worker. Everything I had been told about Jack and his work was true. He gave me terrific ideas and suggestions to get the most out of our website and to make it as user friendly as possible. A professional job with high accolades from our Board of Governors made our website creation a success because of Jack Behar’s knowledge and assistance."

Iris Networks

Iris came to us with the intent of ditching their obsolete 640px table based website and dated flash intro. They wanted a fresh, lean and standard compliant site that would impress their clients while at the same time effectively communicate their message.

The Design

We chose a clean and bright layout. We included a subtle animated banner of communications-related imagery to supplement their company slogan. We chose to maximize space by ditching a left or right sidebar and instead use the bottom of the page to call out other sections of the site while at the same time adding a graphical punch that effectively anchors the interface.

The Features

The Iris Networks site was built with users in mind. We knew that their target audience is information-hungry businesses who do not want to fuss with complicated navigation or layout. We kept a standard horizontal navigation and a supplementary graphic navigation towards the bottom of each page. This gives a call-to-action once the user scrolls down to where the main navigation is no longer visible. The site also features a Flash based network map displaying CLLI codes when you hover over each location.
